This holiday season, we were excited to be "Charity of Choice" for a pillow drive by Tryon Gym, Paula Burke and Brenda Schmidt. Thank you for each and every one of the 200+ pillows!
In addition, Backyard Broadcast's KTWB radio station adopted 101 of our children for its "101 Christmas Wishes" toy drive. Thank you to all of KTWB's listeners for your generosity.
Community giving didn't stop there. Citi's Retention Unit adopted our child care program. A group of employees visited our main child care center to decorate cookies with the children and to watch the excitement as the children opened their Christmas gifts.
We were so blessed for the many local businesses that hosted Christmas Spirit trees to benefit our children, youth and families. Walmart (on South Louise Avenue) hosted a tree, which we found overflowing with gifts more than once. Thanks to all who adopted a child, youth, or family this Christmas.
These gifts were given to program participants that were unable to celebrate Christmas with their families because they are taking steps towards health, healing and recovery. We also have youth and families working hard to make a better life. Because of you, they were able to open presents and afford groceries for Christmas dinner.
This time of year it's always been said that giving is better than receiving, and Thursday night a KELOLAND teen was giving back to an organization that has given him so much. Loren Antoine and other volunteers wrapped nearly 600 gifts for the youth in the Volunteers of America programs.
