   Parent Child Learning Center (PCLC) provides quality care and nurturing for children and offers support and guidance for parents facing everyday challenges while pursuing their education and employment goals at Volunteers of America, Dakotas. The PCLC has three areas: infants (0-13 months), toddlers (1-3 years), and pre-school (Head Start, 3-5 years old). The PCLC is a community Head Start site; the Department of Social Services licensed the PCLC for 65 children.

Basic fees apply with scholarship opportunities for qualifying families.
 


Quality Child Care

The Parent Child Learning Center provides nurturing and developmentally appropriate childcare in a structured environment for children ages four weeks to six years. Children enjoy nutritious meals and snacks, rest time, and age-appropriate art and play time activities under the guidance of a caring, skilled staff.
Children ages 4 weeks to 6 years who have a parent enrolled in Volunteers of America, Dakotas’ Career Learning Center have priority. Along with this population, Volunteers of America’s staff may contract for child care services. Other families can enroll due to special circumstances, when there is available space.

Parenting Education & Support
The PCLC staff conduct developmental and special needs assessments and screenings. Parents may participate in a weekly parent support group and parenting education classes where they learn about the development of their child and gain assistance for the challenging job of being a parent.

Head Start and PreK Pilot
Volunteers of America, Dakotas’ is a partner with Head Start and PreK Pilot programs, which are comprehensive developmental programs for children and their families. They provide educational, nutritional, health, and social services to preschool age children from limited income families. The Head Start and PreK Pilot programs provide children with a learning environment and varied experience to help them develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically in a manner appropriate for their age and stage of development.
Children must be at least three years old to be eligible for the Head Start and PreK Pilot programs.
