Volunteers of America, Dakotas' Teen Parent Program provides nurturing childcare and parent support for Sioux Falls School District students with babies and young children so parents can complete their education. The center is located in Joe Foss Alternative School but is available to all student parents in the Sioux Falls School District and is open when school is in session.  The State of South Dakota licenses the center for 35 children. The center is set up in two rooms, one for infants and one for older children.

Quality Childcare
The Teen Parent program is licensed for children 4 weeks–3 years. The program provides a warm, caring environment for children while their parents attend school. The daily schedule offers research-based curriculum with a mix of active and quiet play, opportunities to participate in small groups or to play alone and the flexibility to meet individual children’s needs.
The parents must be enrolled in the Sioux Falls School District to be eligible for services.

Parenting Education and Support
Parenting education is offered through the Even Start Family Literacy Program (center and home based).  Along with the daily interactions and support from the Volunteers of America staff offers weekly parenting education classes and bi-weekly Parent and Child Interactive Literacy time at the school through the Even Start program.
