Volunteers of America's New Start for Adolescents is a 24-hour residential treatment program for pregnant and parenting adolescents and their children, referred by the Department of Corrections, Social Services, Human Services, Court Services, or the private sector. New Start provides a safe, structured, therapeutic and staff-secured environment.
New Start provides holistic services for pregnant and parenting adolescents to help them lead healthy and productive lives. New Start participants gain insight in the following areas:
- Parenting and self care
- Individual, couples, and family relationships
- Prenatal, postpartum and well baby care
- Chemical usage, mental health and legal problems
- Educational and employment needs
Volunteers of America provides these comprehensive services to allow participants to gain the skills and resources necessary to live a healthy, satisfying life and to develop positive parenting practices for themselves and their child.
