Population Served
Volunteers of America’s Thrift Store operates as a benefit to the community and is open to the public.
The store also operates to provide vocational training services to approximately 100 people with disabilities from the community each year.
Program participants learn basic employment skills and develop work experience. The store works with other service agencies in the community such as; South Dakota Rehabilitation Services, One Stop Career Center, Sioux Falls Housing and Redevelopment and the Heartland House, to provide similar opportunities to build work experience and work history for people using community programs.
Volunteers are also important to the program and assist with a variety of activities, including preparing items for sale, staffing the store and working with program participants.
