Psychiatric Residential Treatment
Volunteers of America, Dakotas' Psychiatric Residential Treatment Program provides therapeutic and case management services to males and females between the ages of 10 and 17 that have a qualifying mental health diagnosis. Staff with education and experience in a human service field supervise the participants in a structured living environment. The treatment model is based on both Social Learning Theory and medical models.
Upon admission, each participant is assigned a therapist. Together, the therapist, participant, referring worker, and participant's family develop a treatment plan outlining treatment goals, objectives, and timelines. The overall goal of the program is to reunite each participant with his or her family or identified discharge resource.
Participants remain in the program approximately six months. Individualized treatment plans allow each participant to work at his or her own pace.
