West Farm

West Farm

West Farm is a residential program located west of Sioux Falls on a farm owned by the State of South Dakota. The dorm-like housing provides 24-hour supervision and guidance to adolescent males who are unable to return to their homes.

Treatment services are available to address issues such as education, mental health, behavior, employment and chemical dependency. Mental health services are provided by a licensed psychologist and/or a child and adolescent psychiatrist in an individual or group setting.

A chemical dependency counselor is on site to provide education, aftercare and evaluation services. Medical services are available on-site by a registered nurse.

Each boy is assigned an individual and family services specialist. The IFSS provides case management and individual and group therapy to address anger management, independent living (including employment and budgeting) and social skill development. A formalized treatment plan is developed identifying individual needs and strengths. The plan is developed by each boy's treatment team.

Education services are provided through the Sioux Falls Public or West Central School District. GED services are also available through Volunteers of America's Floyd Career Learning Center. West Farm also will assist boys in their pursuit of post-secondary education or vocation.

Recreational outlets are available to the boys both on and off campus. A basketball court, baseball field, tennis court, horseshoe pit and a large field used for soccer and flag football are located on site. The boys are encouraged to engage in off campus recreational activities as well, either through school or community.
