Chemical Dependency Evaluations & Assessments

Volunteers of America services focus on providing thorough and comprehensive alcohol and other drug evaluations and assessments to youth and adults to determine the degree and severity of their substance. Following the evaluation and assessment, staff recommend and refer use participants to the most appropriate services for the identified problems.

Cultural Program

Volunteers of America’s Native American cultural program (Native Hope) serves adolescents 12-18 years of age using traditional Native American culture during their treatment and recovery. Adolescents will have an opportunity to participate in cultural activities that work hand-in-hand with the Twelve Step Program. Some of the activities include: visits from elders, arts and crafts, meditation, guest speakers, sweat lodge and talking circle.

Prime For Life Program

Volunteers of America’s Prime for Life is a drug and alcohol prevention program for youth under the age of 21. The 8-hour class is carefully designed to reduce the risk of students experiencing alcohol or drug related problems.

Chemical Dependency AfterCare Program for Adults and Adolescents.

Volunteers of America services focus on providing continuing care, counseling, and support to adolescents and adults who have completed a structured inpatient or outpatient treatment program.

Intensive Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment for Adults and Adolescents

Volunteers of America services focus on providing 50-60 hours of intensive outpatient treatment over 6 to 7 weeks to adolescents ages 12-18 and for adults 18 & up who are harmfully involved with alcohol and/or other drugs. The program provides individual, group, and family counseling, and assists the individual in developing the skills necessary to remain substance free and begin a recovery program.

Adolescent Day Treatment

There is another level of care we provide for 12-18 year olds. The program is 30 weekdays in length and provides a residential component if needed. Clients will participate in 15 hours of programming per week and have access to case management to assist them with education, employment, housing, medical and other identified needs they have as a part of their overall treatment.

Inpatient/Partial-Hospitalization Chemical Dependency Treatment

This Volunteers of America program works with youth ages 12 to 18 years for up to 45 days. These young people have alcohol and/or chemical addictions. This involvement causes a negative impact on an adolescent’s physical, mental, social, vocational, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. The chemical dependency treatment program integrates into Volunteers of America, Dakota’s residential program.

Volunteers of America provides a developmentally appropriate environment, in which youth can internalize and practice knowledge, insight and skills. This environment ensures the best opportunity for a young person’s on-going success. The residential environment also provides the youth opportunity to interact with peers without a treatment focus, just as they would when in the community. Volunteers of America provides each young person with a Chemical Dependency Counselor who develops a comprehensive treatment plan focusing on chemical dependency issues as well as behavioral and/or mental health issues.
