Did you know that socks are the #1 requested clothing item at homeless shelters nationwide? Can you imagine going sockless, especially if you don’t have a warm place to sleep at night? This spring, Volunteers of America, Dakotas teamed up with Bombas, who donated 750 pair of socks to our Veterans Services.
What is Bombas? Bombas is a sock company that is committed to donating a pair of socks for each pair they sell. The socks that they donate aren’t just your average socks either - these socks are designed for donation! Bombas worked with their giving partners to engineer a sock treated with anti-microbial and designed with reinforced seams and darker colors, ensuring they don’t have to be washed as often and giving them greater durability with less visible wear. Together with their over 1,200 giving partners, Bombas has donated nearly 9 million pairs of socks to date.
Our Veteran Services Center is a drop-in center for veterans and their families who are experiencing or are at-risk for homelessness. Open Monday-Saturday, the Center offers resources and services to an average 21 homeless veterans daily. The 750 pair of quality socks from Bombas will help us better serve this population. Thanks Bombas!
