Recycled Rides

Recycled Rides is a unique program in which insurers, collision repairers, paint suppliers, parts vendors, and others collaborate to repair and donate vehicles to deserving individuals and service organizations. Over 1,000 vehicles have been donated through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program since its inception in 2007.

This spring, Recycled Rides presented a refurbished car to Volunteers of America, Dakotas participant and volunteer, Michael Landon. Mike is a Vietnam era veteran who became involved with Volunteers of America, Dakotas after a referral from the VA to our Grant Per Diem program. After being laid off from his long time job, Mike struggled to find employment.  Our Veterans Services guided him and helped him regain employment and become self-sufficient. Recently, Mike was brought on board to help staff the Veterans Services Center.

Thanks to the efforts of many NABC members, Recycled Rides has made a difference in the lives of people like Mike and thousands of other individuals who have received vehicles or benefited through the services provided by organizations who have been vehicle recipients.
