Volunteers of America, Dakotas' RSVP and Foster Grandparent programs participated in the monthly veterans coffee event held at the Aberdeen Area Senior Center on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Approximately 80 people (mostly veterans) enjoyed coffee and cookies provdied by ManorCare. They also were entertained by the RSVP Friendship Singers, who sang a medley of patriotic songs.
RSVP and Foster Grandparent staff members, Cindy Beard and Juli Schultz, presented special Senior Corps veteran pins to 17 RSVP volunteers. The pins were made available to Senior Corps programs by the Corporation for National and Community Service to honor veterans who served their country and are now serving their community through RSVP and Foster Grandparent programs. Pins will be mailed to the other 22 veterans belonging to the program in the Northcentral region who were unable to attend the event.
