Shared Living

Shared Living is a community-based residential support option where an individual lives in the private home of a trained community member or family provider. Through Shared Living, VOA Dakotas offers a personalized alternative to traditional residential settings. Support is centered on the individual’s goals, preferences, interests, and vision for the future.

More than just a place to live, Shared Living offers:

  • A person-centered, relationship-driven living arrangement
  • Support provided in a private home within the community
  • Flexibility to meet individual goals, needs, and preferences
  • Opportunities to develop natural supports and meaningful connections
  • A home environment that promotes dignity, choice, and independence
  • Support that grows with changing needs

Shared Living may be a good fit for people who want to:

  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Be more involved in their community
  • Develop greater independence and life skills
  • Receive personalized support in a home setting
