Cast Away Conflict

(G) 2012, Grades K-5, Play to Learn Go Fish, Franklin Learning Systems, 2 card decks.

This game can be used by counselors and teachers to increase the skills needed for children to manage conflict in appropriate and socially acceptable ways. Scenario cards present brief conflict situations that players are asked to resolve calmly and effectively. By practicing strategies such as apologizing, compromising and listening, players learn to adopt behaviors that can enhance their relationships at home, at school and within the community. Learning how to resolve conflict in an assertive and nonviolent way, finding ways to avoid conflict, and when intervention by an adult is needed are goals. Game time for four players is about 20 minutes. Developed by elementary counselors. One deck is for K-2 students and the other is for students grades 3-5.
