These realistic lung models can be used to illustrate the differences between a normal, healthy lung and a cancerous, emphysemic lung. The black color of the diseased lung is caused by years of smoking. The large greyish-white mass across the tip of the diseased lung is cancer. The spongey bubbles are caused by emphysema.
